Airport Check-In I.D. Requirements
Adult passengers (over 18) are required to show a U.S. federal or state issued photo I.D. that contains the following information and includes a tamper resistant feature.
Name Gender
Date of Birth Expiration Date
Examples of Acceptable I.D’s Include:
- Drivers license or other state photo identity cards issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent) and meets Real ID benchmarks. (All state issued drivers’ license documents currently meet these benchmarks.)
- US Passport
- US Passport Card
- US Military I.D.
- A native American Tribal Photo I.D.
- A Foreign Government Issued I.D.
- Permanent Resident Card
- Border Crossing Card
- Canadian Provincial Drivers License
Liquid Substances Carry-on Rules
Airline passengers are only permitted to carry-on a limited amount of liquid, aerosol and gel substances. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) uses the 3-1-1 rule for these items in carry-on luggage.
3 – 3.4 ounces (100ml) or less by volume of any of these substances
1 – Must be in a 1 quart sized clear plastic zip-top bag
1 – one quart size bag per passenger removed from carry-on luggage and placed in a bin for separate screening
*If you must transport larger quantities of liquids such as medications, baby formula, baby food or breast milk, remove these items from your carry-on bag and declare them to TSA personnel for inspection and screening. It is not necessary for these items to be in a zip top bag.
Carry-on Prohibited Items
The following items are prohibited in the passenger cabin of a commercial airline flight. This is a partial list; consult TSA for complete list or a specific questionable item.
- Box cutters
- Knives
- Razor type replacement blades (such as used in box cutters and utility knives)

- Scissors (longer than four inches)
- Baseball bats (and similar items)
- Bows and/or arrows
- Golf clubs
- Lacrosse sticks
- Pool cues
- Ski poles
- Firearms of any kind (even if unloaded or disassembled)
- Realistic replicas of firearms
- Pellet/BB/Compresses Air guns
- Starter pistols
- Parts pertaining to a firearm
- Ammunition
- Axes/hatchets
- Crowbars
- Hammers
- Drills and drill bits
- Tools of any kind greater than seven inches long
- Billy clubs
- Blackjacks
- Brass knuckles
- Martial arts weapons
- Stun guns/shocking devices
- Fireworks
- Flares
- Flammable liquids or aerosols (except for personal care toiletries as describes above)
Some of the above items may be acceptable in checked luggage based on specific packing and disclosure requirements. The airline being used must be consulted for current rules.
